How to translate text into emoji

    Write a caption, a message or a greeting in the box. The translation updates as you type.

    Add emoji keeps your words and puts an emoji after each one that has it. Swap words replaces them. Emoji to words reads emoji back as their names.

How the translator picks an emoji

It looks up every word in English, in two places. First a list of everyday words and the emoji that read best for them: love is ❀️, happy is 😊, party is πŸ₯³. Then the emoji’s own short names, the codes Use Emoji types, so pizza, dog and rocket become πŸ•, 🐢 and πŸš€. Plurals and verb endings are matched too: dogs, parties, loved and dancing all count.

Small words such as a, the, on and up are left alone, and so are numbers and two-letter words, so a sentence never fills up with keycaps and flags. Emoji to words works the other way round, with each emoji’s official name: ❀️ reads as red heart, πŸ˜‚ as face with tears of joy.

How does the emoji translator work?
It reads your text word by word and looks each word up: first in a list of everyday words matched to the emoji that fit them best, then among the emoji’s own short names. When a word has an emoji, it adds the emoji after the word or puts it in the word’s place, depending on the style you pick.
Can it translate emoji into words?
Yes. Choose Emoji to words and paste a message: each emoji is replaced by its official name, so ❀️ πŸ• reads as red heart pizza. It helps with emoji you don’t recognise, or when a message has to be read aloud.
Why didn’t a word get an emoji?
Either no emoji fits it, or it is a small word the translator skips on purpose, like a, the, on or up. Words are matched in English only, so a word in another language gets no emoji.
Can I use it for Instagram captions and bios?
Yes. Emoji are ordinary text characters, so the result pastes into Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, X or anywhere else you write. Add emoji tends to read best in captions, and Swap words makes fun puzzles.
