What is a kaomoji?
A kaomoji is a Japanese emoticon made of text characters, such as (^_^) or ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. The word combines kao (face) and moji (character). Unlike Western emoticons like :-), kaomoji are read without tilting your head, and they often use Japanese and other Unicode characters for eyes, mouths and arms.
